Exekiller is a new game in development at Paradark Studio where players try to survive as a bounty hunter in an alternate Earth timeperiod. Exekiller takes place in New York in 1998, following a post-apocalyptic event called the “Great Fire Disaster,” which occurred 20 years prior. With only 30% of humanity surviving, governments fell, and corporations moved in to take control. To say that Exekiller takes visual inspirations from Cyberpunk 2077 would be an understatement, but it does add its own niche of gameplay and some familiar western stylings of Fallout New Vegas as well. Hunt down outlaws in an open-world environmentin a story-driven game where you choose how to engage, and those choices affect the story’s outcome.
“You can either kill them, bring them to justice or set them free – the choice is yours. Make full use of the environment and various types of weapons and gadgets. Use your abilities to gain advantage. Sneak past your enemies or talk your way out of trouble situations.”
“We are fans of westerns, postapo but also dark sci fi, cyberpunk and retro futurism- from mixing these genres Exekiller was born”
– Amadeusz Wróbel CEO of Paradark Studio
The developers have put effort into creating a dynamic environment for Exekiller, which includes radioactive sun storms and a day/night cycle. Players can also use the landscape to their advantage for stealth tactics while also traversing deserts and canyons, whose beauty is also filled with lethal threats. According to the description on Steam, the map gradually opens up as the game progresses and quests are completed. It appears players will rely on driving skills, hand-to-hand combat, guns, and their cunning to get by. According to the press release, you will be able to update skills and use an assortment of gadgets, and be able to potentially talk your way out of troublesome situations, if needed. Interestingly enough, character progression is determined by choice of mods, weapon upgrades, and quest rewards rather than experience points or leveling up.

Paradark has yet to set a release date, but things are looking promising for it in its current state. It can be wishlisted on Steam, and those interested in learning more about Paradark Studio can check out their website here.
