The developers behind Styx: Blades of Greed have released a free, limited-time demo for the next franchise entry containing early parts of the game. Given the CES that wasn’t, and other doom-and-gloom events within the tech industry, what better way to get over the new year’s slump than with a free demo for a game that doesn’t require over $ 5,000 of hardware to play? This roughly 1-hour demo sees Styx engaged in the first mission of the game, sneaking and stealing his way through an open area, and also combating a massive enemy with a hint of things to come, including new tricks.
“It’s a focused taste of the tone, systems, and level of freedom we’re building into the full experience, just enough to get you into trouble, and hopefully out of it.”
– Daedalic Entertainment
The demo can be downloaded from Steam here.
Styx: Blades of Greed is said to have three large open environments where players can explore The Wall. Familiar tools such as the glider and grappling hook will unlock later in the game so that players can experience Styx’s new powers and tricks firsthand, and the good news is that progress made in the demo can be carried over to the full game upon its release.
Details for the full game:
“The master of stealth is back! Explore the dizzying heights of the Iserian Continent and cunningly eliminate your enemies. You play as Styx, a cunning goblin with a caustic sense of humor who has mastered the art of stealth. Your goal is to get your hands on Quartz, the most precious – and dangerous – resource in a world on the brink of war between elves, humans and orcs. Styx: Blades of Greed refines the proven formula of the first two games by making freedom and creativity central to the experience. Explore vast vertical environments and master new tools and powers. Whether you’re discovering Styx for the first time or you’re a longtime fan, it has never been so exciting to be greedy!”
- Three large, open environments to explore and infiltrate in your own way. You’ll discover brand new areas of The Wall as you unlock your new tools. You’ll be sneaking through the vile orc nest of Turquoise Dawn and the rotting Ruins of Akenash, a twisted version of Styx: Master of Shadows world.
- Movement tools to unlock new routes and unreachable areas, such as the grappling hook and glider
- Unlock more upgrades for your tools and powers
- New Quartz powers, including mind control and time shifting
- New enemy factions with their own gameplay specificities, including Inquisitors, Orcs, or Elves
- And above all: fresh infiltration challenges, a full liberty to design your own approaches, and situations to outsmart with Styx’s trademark creativity (and bad attitude)
