CD PROJEKT RED CEO MichaÅ‚ Nowakowski joined in on a thread celebrating best-selling games from Polish developers, confirming the franchise’s success. The list already showed The Witcher 3, which was released in 2015, as having reached $60 million in sales, but then the CEO added figures for the first two games. The original game has pulled in $10 million, with the second sitting at $15 million, but the exec humorously added that all are still selling.

These sales figures come as rumors persist that CDPR is planning to release more content for The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. The last major DLC released for it launched in 2016, adding over 30-hours of content to the game, but a smaller amount of content was added following the launch of the Netflix series which included a new quest. Ongoing rumors, as reported by VGC and Eurogamer, point to a May 2026 paid DLC release. Fans of the 3rd game will likely not hesitate in paying for more content, given that many still find the 60-100 hour playtime of it now not being enough.

Meanwhile, well-known modder Halk Hogan is preparing their next texture overhaul pack, HD Reworked Project NextGen Edition 2026. If the modder, who also helped contribute to the Next Gen version of The Witcher 3, can release this close to the purported next DLC launch, it could be the cherry on top for fans of the game.

The Witcher IV remains in development with a possible release within the next two years. CDPR has taken a new turn for this game by using Unreal Engine instead of its own aging Red Engine, which was used for the first three games and Cyberpunk 2077. A remake of the first game is also in development, and has been contracted to Fool’s Theory, whose team includes a number of CDPR devs and is being supervised by CDPR. It is also using UE5, but it’s been some time since there was an update on it, so hopefully things are still progressing with it.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
