Insomniac Games has released a teaser trailer formally announcing the launch of Marvel’s Wolverine, which looks to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. It’s been roughly five years since Insomniac Games revealed it was developing a game on the popular X-Men character, and after having an early build and trailer leaked following a data breach a couple of years ago, it looks like Logan is finally ready to unleash his rage on those who’ve crossed his path on September 15.

“As he searches for answers about his past, Wolverine will do whatever it takes – unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage, and relentless determination – to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be.”

“From Insomniac Games, the developers of the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, comes Marvel’s Wolverine, an all-new take on an iconic character based on Marvel comics.”

– Insomniac Games

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Wolverine is only being announced for the PlayStation 5, for now, as Insomniac’s previous Marvel Games projects, Spider-Man 1-2, Miles Morales, all began as exclusives before their eventual PC releases followed. However, unlike those previous games, Wolverine appears to be a much more bloody and graphic game than your friendly neighborhood variety, as can be seen in this gameplay trailer from last fall. Fans of the character ought to be thankful for not having to cope with a cut-down, censored version, as sometimes portrayed in other media.

“Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel’s Wolverine arrives on PlayStation®5 consoles Fall 2026.”

For now, the official Sony store page only has basic information regarding the game, but those interested can wishlist it there, and with any luck, PC users won’t have to wait too long for a release.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
