Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy was released in February 2023, based on Unreal Engine 4, with some elements of Unreal Engine 5. Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action role-playing game. The game graphics support Ray Tracing, NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Frame Generation. We enable the “Ultra” graphics preset from the game options. We use a manual in-game run-through in the open-world for GPU performance testing.

Native Resolution

Hogwarts Legacy 1440p Performance Graph

In Hogwarts Legacy, we are running at 1440p native resolution at “Ultra” game settings. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is capable of producing a playable gameplay experience at 1440p native in this game. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is slightly faster, however, at 2% faster on average and 3% faster on 1% Lows.

DLSS Upscaling

Hogwarts Legacy 1440p Performance Graph

When we enable DLSS Upscaling at Quality at 1440p, performance jumps up, and is now in the 90FPS average range, with 1% Lows above 70FPS for very smooth gameplay. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is more significantly faster with DLSS Upscaling enabled; it is now 3% faster on average and 4% faster in 1% Lows.

4K with DLSS Upscaling

Hogwarts Legacy 4K Performance Graph

When we run the game at 4K “Ultra” settings and utilize DLSS Upscaling Quality, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is borderline playable. In reality, you’d probably want to drop to DLSS Upscaling “Balanced” for the smoothest gameplay at 4K on the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti. Because the render resolution is lowered with DLSS Upscaling, we don’t see much difference between the cards; however, just a 1% difference.
