CD PROJEKT RED has announced that Cyberpunk 2077’s next major update, Update 2.0, will be released on Thursday, September 21, just a few days before the launch of Phantom Liberty, the RPG’s first and only expansion, on September 26 for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. The date was revealed in a new trailer that CD PROJEKT RED shared today, which teases some of the battles that players may encounter against the NCPD in the newly improved version of the game. Complementing that bit of news is a new Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty trailer that stars Idris Elba, who plays Solomon Reed; Phantom Liberty’s soundtrack release; and a new build planner that makes it easier for players to create their ideal version of V.
With Update 2.0, we have completely redesigned the perks and skill trees to give you the freedom and flexibility to become the cyberpunk that you truly want to be. With a range of brand-new abilities that open up unique approaches to combat, stealth, hacking, and more, you’ll be able to take down your foes in exciting, creative ways that they won’t ever see coming!
Our vision for this new system was to have fewer, but way more impactful, perks for players to choose from. Instead of getting multiple low percentage increases to your damage, you will now get many opportunities to unlock completely different abilities that modify the way you play.
Everyone who continues their playthrough after downloading Update 2.0 will have the one-time chance to redistribute all of their attribute points in order to adapt to the new system. Perk points can be redistributed at any point outside of combat.

So if the skill tree is completely new does this mean we can't just use our old saves, but have to start a brand new game?
It would also be useful to know where the DLC ties in to the main game. I assume it will just appear as a side mission after a major event in the main campaign.
This whole mess could've been avoided if the game didn't have such stupid endings. If there is one thing I hate in videogames above all it is forced failures, and this is forced failure: the game.
