Didn't they JUST release the ROG Ally? Why would I buy a platform that's going to change every year? No thanks.

You mean like video cards, CPUs, and motherboards?

Those arn't consoles. this is supposed to be a hand held console. It needs a longer cycle time.

Then again they know people will buy 1500 dollar phones every two and a half years so maybe that's what they are trying for.

I'll also add that my passion for computers and interest in the technology provides for my family as well. HUGE difference in spend sure but huge return as well.

No, these are handheld PCs.

I just watched the video. What a bunch of scum bags. I had a instance with them over chat about about my current Asus motherboard and they said they would reach back out to me via email, and I got nothing. They supposedly gave me a case #, but before I could even write it down the chat abruptly ended. I honestly would not buy anything from them again.

They are so out of touch with their consumers. This should "hit them in the wallet" as they will certainly lose customers. Their slogan "For those who dare" seems more like a threat than a slogan now.

Kind of a bad time for this to come out for them with them releasing the new Ally and then their BTF line.

I count myself lucky with all the ASUS products I've had over the years. Two 3D monitors (1080p/120Hz & 1440p 144Hz G-Sync), 3 GPUS (1080 Ti, 2080 Ti, and 3090), and all performed admirably so I never needed to deal with their customer support. I didn't mind the ASUS tax either since for me each product exceeded on various fronts compared to other similar items I looked at. I truly hope they change direction and start respecting their customers because I've been hearing way too many of these stories over the last 5 years.

I think I got my first ASUS product in the very early 2000s. A motherboard for my Athlon Tbird CPU. It was a sh1t board. That soured me on ASUS for a while, but I eventually gave them another shot, and I've bought a ton of their stuff over the years (mainly motherboards) since the mid 2000s. Never had a problem with any of the ASUS products I owned previously, but it was always understood that buying ASUS was a risk. You bought an ASUS product and then prayed to the good Lord that the product would continue to work properly for years to come. If you bought one of their products and it worked fine, then you were usually good to go. But if it didn't, well then good f*cking luck with ASUS customer service. Every ASUS product purchase is a gamble. This has been true for a very long time now. But in recent years ASUS has gotten especially worse, and for the time being I'll probably avoid them. Like I don't know if I'll use them for my next mainboard. ASUS was bad enough over the past couple decades+, we really don't need them to get any worse.

You may be right, but who is there that is doing better? Both Gigabyte and MSI have also had pretty bad RMA stories in recent years.

Shiiiiat MSI, my dad and I have had a ban on since the 90s, but in recent years I've been more open to them again. Using a fantastic graphics card by them now, although I didn't buy it new. Gigabyte was usually my 2nd choice for motherboards after ASUS, and lately they've been the Tweedle-dee to ASUS' Tweedle-dumb. As in, they've been f*cking up nearly as bad as ASUS.

I've been a Gigabyte user for years, but one of their Master motherboards was very flaky so I looked to Asus for a little while and now mainly MSI which I haven't had an issue with at all. The Asus board I have in my now secondary PC has been solid, but that will be my last Asus board for a while.
