Cooler Master CryoFuze 5 is a new thermal paste being marketed overseas as AI thermal paste with a high thermal conductivity coefficient. What makes this AI thermal paste isn’t really known but Cooler Master could be alluding to its 12.6 W/mK rating which is towards the top end of non-liquid metal thermal paste solutions. For better, or more likely worse, we are in the midst of an AI branding craze that began around a year or so ago and will probably continue to see the term slapped on just about any product imaginable. Similar advertising tactics occurred when Blu-ray and High Definition arrived with everything from tech to eyewear, and even personal hygiene products, appropriating the terms in some form (Blu or HD) or another.
As spotted by Tom’s Hardware the Cooler Master CryoFuze 5 thermal paste is being offered on the company’s China product page. It is rated for use between -50°C and up to 240°C. It uses zinc oxide and aluminum powder along with nano-molecular technology. Cooler Master has previously offered other thermal paste products in other colors, something that becomes a moot point once a build is completed, but for those wanting something a bit different at that moment before the CPU/GPU die becomes fully covered and hidden from view. CryoFuze 5 is available in red, blue, yellow, white, green, or black.
Per product page (machine translated):
“Easy to apply and clean, a light wipe will instantly give it a brand new look;
it has better electrical insulation and corrosion resistance, is safer and more efficient;
and it is nano-diamond molecular technology, which can maintain more stable performance within a certain temperature range”
Unfortunately, Google’s translation is cropped so the above is provided to view the fully translated text. As Michael Crider (PCWorld) puts it, “AI is now a meaningless term”, giving credit to this product marketing along with efforts happening in the fast food sector.
“So, thanks, Cooler Master. I sincerely appreciate your willingness to achieve this inevitable milestone. I look forward to buying AI-infused McNuggets with artificially intelligent fries on the side. And no, that’s not an exaggeration either.”
