A new king is being acknowledged as CD PROJEKT RED congratulates FromSoftware with the reception for its Elden Ring DLC. Shadow of the Erdtree only launched this week and is already garnering accolades as the best-reviewed DLC from multiple sources. PC Gamer has noted how it is overtaking The Wither 3’s Blood and Wine DLC rankings for PC and console users on Metacritic but also on PC Gamer’s PC-specific tracking.
Per PC Gamer:
“The Witcher DLC has an average score of 94, 92, and 91 on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation respectively. Erdtree, meanwhile, currently boasts 94, 93 and 95 across the same platforms. Or maybe it just has its priorities straight and is referring exclusively to PC Gamer’s reviews, where Blood and Wine was scored 94% and Erdtree just pipped it with 95%.”
One of CDPR’s artists has created an image of Geralt wielding his famed silver sword to defeat Elden Ring’s Mohg which unlocks the new DLC. As CD PROJEKT RED congratulates the team at FromSoftware it’s apparent there’s nothing but mutual appreciation for them with their accomplishment.
Per CD PROJEKT RED (via X, formerly Twitter):
“For the last 8 years, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine had the honor of being the best reviewed expansion for a role-playing game – but @ELDENRING gets to wear that crown now. Congratulations to the entire team at @fromsoftware_pr on their stellar work!”
CDPR took things a step further and shared screenshots of their team taking on the boss as well. If anyone is wondering about delays with current projects in development we at least know the current root cause.

It’s well known that CDPR has a number of Witcher projects in the pipeline spanning from a complete remake of the first game, to a fourth installment in the award-winning franchise, along with other games in development. Who knows, it’s possible that FromSoft may have to relinquish the crown back to CDPR or pass it on to someone else in 8 years.
