Dino Crisis, the survival horror and action-adventure franchise from Capcom that has been missing in action since 2003 but remains fondly remembered by many players for what is effectively Resident Evil with dinosaurs, requires no additional installments, according to new comments that series creator Shinji Mikami shared at Gamescom 2024. Mikami, who is best known as being the mastermind behind the Resident Evil franchise, said that he was “surprised” to hear about how players wanted a new Dino Crisis game, explaining that Monster Hunter—Capcom’s fantasy-themed action RPG series—already fulfills the dinosaur fantasy.

Mikami said:

  • “I’m very surprised to hear about [the fan reaction to Dino Crisis].”
  • “The awesomeness of dinosaurs and the stuff you can do with dinosaurs, that’s been kind of really nailed down by Monster Hunter in recent years.”
  • “….if I were to decide to make a remake or a new version of Dino Crisis, I don’t really feel like there’s a whole lot of space for that kind of game right now, just since Monster Hunter has become such a big game.”
  • “…yeah, it is surprising.”

Armed with hyperspeed booster units and an arsenal of futuristic weaponry, you’ll confront ferocious space mutations and evolved forms of dinosaur creations. On this dynamically changing galactic ship, it’s up to you to change the spaceship layout, collect objects, and solve puzzles to achieve your objectives.
