Halo Studios, the American video game developer formerly known as 343 Industries, hasn’t hired a new campaign team for future Halo games despite it having been almost two years since Microsoft laid off the original campaign team, according to new rumors that have been shared online. The rumor, which stems from a video regarding Halo Infinite 2’s cancellation on the Slipspace Engine, includes a quote from a former 343 Industries employee that suggests the studio doesn’t really care for single-player, story-driven experiences in the Halo universe anymore. Rebs Gaming’s report, which hints at the next Halo game’s campaign mode being outsourced, can be found below.
…they don’t know if Halo infinite 2 is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, but what they are sure about is the campaign team never felt supported by their new leadership. “The idea that when new leadership took over that it somehow enabled more clarity into what was actually happening is laughable… let’s just say that campaign leadership never felt supported by new leadership and I bet if you talked to most of the people that got laid off they would say new leadership would outsource campaign content.”
