Killzone, the series of first-person shooter “Halo Killer” games for PlayStation that remains largely credited for helping put developer Guerrilla Games on the map, will no longer be getting any more installments, according to the latest word from Roy Postma, an art director at Guerrilla that has contributed to many of the company’s biggest projects, including what appears to be all of the Killzone and Horizon games. Postma, who was interviewed this week as part of a story regarding LEGO Horizon Adventures, explained that Guerrilla is “done” with Killzone and will maintain its focus on Horizon games, as that franchise is more “relatable” to gamers. The latest trailers for LEGO Horizon Adventures, which launches on November 14 for PS5, Windows PCs, and Nintendo Switch, can be watched below.

Guerrilla’s first franchise, “Killzone,” was a dark, violent world that evoked real-world totalitarian imagery. The studio doesn’t hesitate to declare its preference for the vibrant world of Horizon, which also features a diverse cast.

“We were done with it as a team. As a studio, we needed to refresh the palette. It was, by choice, the opposite of ‘Killzone,’” said art director Roy Postma, who has worked at Guerrilla since 2000. “I think the themes that this story and the characters represent are relatable for all ages and people, like having a found family of friends and finding your place in the world.”
