Folks in a tight situation now have a means for quick, permanent data erasure with TEAMGROUP’s industrial-grade self-destructing SSD. Now you can truly say that it’s not a bug, it’s a feature, with a storage device designed to destroy your data. With the press of a button, or via a configured event trigger, the P250Q-M80 (sure, the M80 designation was purely coincidental) will use a high voltage surge to erase data on its flash memory. Announced at this year’s Computex, the P250Q NVMe drive is something out of a movie or television show.
“With a single press of the button, data destruction is executed effortlessly. The button intelligently triggers different erasure modes based on press duration, and LED indicators provide real-time status feedback. This design ensures intuitive operation for professional use.”

Per TEAMGROUP (via YouTube Description):
When every byte matters, secure deletion becomes mission-critical. Team Group’s P250Q M.2 SSD—winner of the Best Choice Award for Cyber Security at COMPUTEX 2025—delivers next-level protection for sensitive data.
Key security features include:
- Dual data destruction options – software-based quick erase and hardware-triggered high-voltage breakdown
- Patented destruction circuit – independently targets Flash memory without affecting the controller
- Physical or event-based trigger – destroy data instantly via button or event
- Firmware pairing – design requires pairing with a specific main control chip, preventing unauthorized use
From military drones to industrial systems and gaming gear, the P250Q is engineered for scenarios where absolute data security is non-negotiable.
Get smart with securing data before it falls into the wrong hands with the P250Q M.2 SSD. Whether it’s a drone on a critical mission, confidential corporate information, government secrets, or something you don’t want anyone else to see, the P250Q is designed to be the final stop for sensitive data. Available in storage capacities from 256 GB up to 2 TB, these Gen4 drives come with a 3-year warranty and read/write speeds of 7,000/5,500 MB/s.

The probability that a disgruntled and retributive girlfriend (boyfriend), wife (husband), and/or employee will utilize this feature is greater than zero.
Wait until some idiot activates this by accident.
It's not going to help for most situations... it's inside your computer... installed in an M2 slot... probably under a heat shield. If someone is breaking into your home to steal data... are you going to be present and have the presence of mind to go and hold down the self destruct button on your SSD while it's in the case and powered on?
This will be really dependent on the scenario's you can set for your drive in your system.
Why the Eff they included 'gamer' in the target market I have no idea. Honestly they should have just said "For those that keep content they absolutely don't want anyone else to see" Legally Lawyers, spouses writing up divorce papers, secure environments working from home, stuff like that sure. The other market.. Paranoid Pirates, and lets be very real... pedo content collectors/creators. And honestly... I would rather just trigger a self destruct of all drives with that shit.
Pre programmed data destruction for drones and corporate laptops or data transport... makes perfect sense. Nothing says data security like destroyed media.
