After years of rumors, the online multiplayer Horizon game is officially real and called Hunters Gathering, and will launch for PC and PS5. Horizon Hunters Gathering appears to keep elements of the original games, but there’s no denying its similarities to Fortnite either. The three-player co-op is set after the events of Horizon Forbidden West, pitting players against machines in an assortment of arena-styled environments. The overall idea sticks to the formula usually employed by assembling a team where players utilize characters with unique skill sets and weapons to beat a common enemy. In this case, everything is set to the familiar settings of the post-apocalyptic Earth as seen in the Horizon franchise.
“Choose from a roster of uniquely skilled Hunters, squad up in teams of up to three players, and rally for the hunt as you face off against a deadly machine threat in action-packed combat and high-stake missions.”
-Guerrilla Games
Interestingly enough, Guerrilla Games has opted not to adhere to a traditional beat-em-up design, instead revealing that an underlying story unfolds as the game progresses. The developers have not revealed much more about what this new lore will add to the story, but have said that it will be canon. There’s still no word on what many hope to be trilogy finishing game to follow up on the events of Horizon Forbidden West, but it sounds as if the developers are laying out a path for it. Only time will tell, but meanwhile, those interested in joining playtests can learn more here. The developers have not indicated when Hunters Gathering will launch, but it’s possible we could see it released this year.

Agreed.
The best comment I've heard was:
Somehow Concord returned
Honestly the videos make me think its a phone game.
As a fan of this series, I dunno about this. I think it lowers the franchise a bit, and that makes me sad :(
This fits right in the trajectory extrapolated from the two existing games.
I thought the exact same when I saw the trailers. Not impressed, that's for sure and this post is more like many ofthers in that its more of a PSA than something to look forward to. This was never going to be a game I was interested but I also know that I'm not a part of the target audience either. True test will be when it launches. The weirdest part is that it really does look like a mobile game but is purposely being marketed to PC and PS5. I expected a complete flop on PC, except for maybe Steam Deck and other gaming handhelds, but it might do okay on PS5 given whatever established player base exists there and the amount of mobile-style games already played on it.
I just hope that Guerrilla isn't abandoning the original franchise because with the passing of each day they don't mention a third game, I'm beginning to fear they have, which would be a shame.

This video shares my opinion.
Best thing that can come from this game is Sony dropping the price on Forbidden West to a reasonable level to gin up interest before launch.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, fantastic commentary from this guy! Saying what we were all thinking about this game. Thanks for sharing that vid.
I've seen it as low as $20 for physical copies on PS5, but I need the price of the PC version to drop at least that low, if not lower. I've lost track of how many big-hitting PS5 games I've seen sold for $20-$30 while their PC versions are still full f*cking price. But at least on PC I have the option of "community demos"... but those are completely unnecessary if publishers would just sell their games at a decent price to begin with, or if decent sales come quickly enough (which they usually don't for Sony IPs on PC).
Geewhiz, I can't wait to not do this.
