NVIDIA is helping to ramp up excitement for Gears of War: E-Day with a new mini-trailer showcasing the game’s modern effects. The 30-second trailer has already been viewed over fifty thousand times and is continuing to rack up more. Built on Unreal Engine 5.8, this latest installment is among the first games this year to support DLSS 4.5. In addition, it will utilize UE’s Megalights, allowing hundreds of light sources which can produce their own shadows.
“Built from the ground up with Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, Gears of War: E-Day delivers unprecedented graphical fidelity by leveraging the engine’s latest technologies. MegaLights powers performant rendering of ray-traced shadows from up to 100 light sources while Lumen enables ray-traced global illumination lighting and ambient occlusion shading.”

NVIDIA goes on to state that Nanite, another UE feature, will allow up to 100X visual fidelity compared to what was seen with Gear 5 while also enhancing the game’s destructible objects and environment, which are rendered in real time. DLSS 4.5 features include dynamic multi-frame generation which is said to not only increase FPS but also imrpove visual qaulity, NVIDIA Reflex to reduce latency, and, of course, hardware-based ray tracing effects. NVIDIA reminds that those who pre-order Gears of War: E-Day will be able to join in on its Beta testing phase on August 6, which will support many of the game’s final release features.
“The PC beta will include DLSS Super Resolution, alongside NVIDIA Reflex, ensuring image quality and frame rates are at their best during the preview.”
