Sega has announced that it will begin limited testing for Crazy Taxi World Tour to see how its online multiplayer component performs. The revived franchise has largely sat dormant since the Sega Dreamcast console was discontinued, with the last mainline entry, Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller, being released in 2002. Since then, there have been some mobile games launched, but outside of a PC port, Crazy Taxi World Tour will be the first new game in over two decades and is planned to launch some time in 2027 for PC and consoles.
“It’s time for crazy driving, crazy adventure, and crazy money! Crazy Taxi is back and going global!
In this new high-octane adventure, follow Axel as he chases down the mysterious masked villains who stole his beloved taxi. Tackle extreme missions around the world all while earning some CRAZY money!“

Those interested in joining the online test need to sign up between July 28 and August 31 and need access to a supported platform which includes: PC , PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Steam. Sega has stated there will be a limited number of selected applicants and that signing up does not guarantee being chosen to join. Testing will be done using a “work-in-progress” build so players should expect the possibility of bugs or glitches in the game that are still being ironed out. The closed network test period ranges from September 11 through September 14th. Sega has also clarified that local splitscreen is not supported during testing and that savegame progress will not carry over to the full game release.
“We will be inviting a small number of players to test the stability of the online multiplayer functionality ahead of the full release of Crazy Taxi: World Tour.
Please be aware that this is meant to be a technical test, therefore there may be unexpected bugs, glitches, or stability issues.“
