BlizzCon 26 wrapped up yesterday following a flurry of announcements, which included that Diablo V is planned to launch in Spring 2029. Players will return, but this time around things have already gone from bad to worse: Sanctuary has fallen, and Diablo has won. The current tagline is “what must you become when the world has already fallen?“

Next is a new StarCraft title set to arrive in Spring 2030. This next StarCraft gmae will be a single-player shooter with its tagline: “THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE DOMINION ANSWERED THE CALL WHEN MANKIND NEEDED THEM MOST. THEIR COURAGE HELD THE LINE. THEIR SACRIFICE BOUGHT US ANOTHER DAY. NOW THE CALL COMES TO YOU.”
Not much else was revealed for the game beyond the above cinematic trailer, but being four years out, there’s plenty of time for Blizzard to trickle out more info before its release.
Meanwhile, Blizzard is adding content to its franchises in the form of new regions, characters, and more.
- Heroes of the Storm – Xal’atath is a new character arriving to the Nexus on September 28, or via PTR as of today.
- Warcraft III – After 23 years, Blizzard is releasing a new story for Warcraft III Reforged in the form of Forsaken Kingdom, and it too arrives today.
- World of Warcraft – The Midnight expansion continues to roll out, and its next update (Eclipse 12.2) sees the aforementioned Xal’atath nearing her quest completion, but then the next expansion, The Last Titan, will bring over two decades of storytelling to a close. World of WarCraft: Forever launches on November 4, with beta testing starting later this week on the 17th. Three new zones and over 1,000 new quests, plus new raids, the addition of the Skyborne race, and more, are included in this new experience.
- Overwatch – Season 5 is about to arrive with new HeroDoctrine and a new map, Watchpoint: Grimsvötn. More Overwatch news will be revealed in February 2027
- Diablo IV – Season of Hell’s Legacy arrives for the most recent game on September 30 and sees the return of Prime Evils and Deckard Cain. The Amazon comes to Diablo IV in 2027, and the Age of Hatred Collection launches for the Nintendo Switch 2 tomorrow.
- Hearthstone – A new class called The Monk will make its debut in 2027, and its next expansion, Reign of the Black Empire, has been revealed. Other updates include an overhauled Journal and a new keyword, Assemble, which merges two cards into one, and a new minion type for Battlegrounds called Aberrations.
