Back 4 Blood, Turtle Rock Studios’ upcoming Left 4 Dead successor, is strictly meant to be a multiplayer experience. This has been made painfully clear by some of the restrictions that the developer has placed against solo players in the co-op shooter, which include the lack of achievements, stat tracking, and even progression toward accomplishments.
Limitations in Back 4 Blood’s solo campaign mode, as confirmed in a screenshot shared by a disappointed player:
- Uses solo decks created in the Fort Hope deck menu.
- Maps and objectives will be adjusted.
- Matchmaking and player invites are disabled.
- Earning Supply Points is disabled.
- Stat tracking is disabled.
- Earning progress towards Accomplishments is disabled.
The frustration among Blood 4 Blood players who are eager to blast away zombies solo hasn’t gone unnoticed by Turtle Rock Studios, which shared a tweet today confirming that it is aware of the complaints. The developer declined to make any promises, however, only noting that “potential” improvements are in discussion.

We have heard your frustrations about progression in solo mode and are discussing ways to address the issue. Thank you for your patience and feedback at this time – we'll have more news as we strategize on potential ways to make it happen.
Back 4 Blood has also been criticized for always requiring an online connection, even in its solo mode. Additionally, the game will launch with Denuvo anti-tamper DRM.
