Sony Pictures has premiered the first trailer for its live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hit action-adventure franchise, Uncharted. The movie stars Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the iconic roles of wise-cracking adventurer Nathan Drake and his older mentor, Sully, respectively. Critics have repeatedly pointed out that they don’t look anything like the characters they’re playing, but that might be excused by the fact that this is meant to be a prequel and origin story.

From Naughty Dog:

Today, we’re humbled and incredibly excited to show you the world premiere of the first official trailer for the much-anticipated Uncharted movie – starring Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and Antonio Banderas. In a collaboration between Sony Pictures Entertainment, PlayStation Productions, and Naughty Dog, we captured the spirit, spectacle, and heart that Uncharted is known for (some of you will recognize some of the humor, landmarks, music, and relics).

In discussions with the film’s director, Ruben Fleischer, he shared that he “made the movie for both hardcore fans of the game and those who are not yet familiar with the franchise and believe that both will be equally entertained by this incredibly fun and action-packed film.”

The Uncharted movie will be coming to theaters on February 18, 2022. Naughty Dog has also taken the occasion to remind Uncharted fans that the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, a collection comprising remastered versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, will be available on PS5 and PC in early 2022.
