Are you an HBO Max subscriber who still hasn’t seen The Batman yet? You may want to consider just waiting it out, as a glitch on the streaming service today accidentally revealed when fans of the Dark Knight can check out Matt Reeves’ film without the sound of babies crying in the distance, and it’s not very far off.
While the listing below has since been scrubbed, Deadline has heard that the dates are legit, indicating that HBO Max subscribers will be able to stream The Batman beginning on Tuesday, April 19. Lending credence to the alleged date is WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar, who had previously suggested that all Warner Bros theatrical releases would hit HBO Max just 45 days after their theatrical debut. (April 19 would mark 46 days after the film’s March 4 release in Canada and the U.S.)
With a global gross of nearly half a billion dollars, The Batman has become the fourth highest-grossing studio release of the pandemic era and marks Warner Bros.’ best international debut since Joker in October 2019. It also scored the biggest-ever debut for a DC film in seven markets and the biggest-ever opening weekend for a Warner Bros release in Iceland, according to a separate Deadline report.
HBO Max subscribers can also look forward to at least two spin-offs of The Batman in the future, with one centered around Colin Farrell’s Penguin, picking up from where the Gotham kingpin left off in Reeves’ film. The other is an Arkham series, which will supposedly have a horror vibe.

- A tech glitch on the HBO website accidentally revealed the HBO Max and pay cable network’s premiere dates for the studio’s current blockbuster hit The Batman, which is set to bank a half-billion dollars worldwide by this weekend at the global box office.
- Stateside, The Batman had a fantastic hold in its second weekend, -50% with $66.5 million (-41% if you back out the first weekend’s previews of $21.6M from its $134M start).
- Through Tuesday, The Batman stateside counts $252.5M. Industry estimates have Batman‘s final domestic tally at $400M.

Join Discussion →Yep I'm waiting. See if the movie is GOOD releasing it simultaneously will not hurt it. Batman I don't trust to actually be good enough to spend a c note to see it in the theater. I would rather wait because I expect nostalgia is driving a large portion of ticket sales.
Guess I will hold out on cancelling hobomax until after this. 3 hours long, no way I am doing that in a theater.
I have a feeling that they (HBO Max) are banking on such strategies and are planning releases accordingly.
I don't really go to the theater anymore, so I'll be looking forward to this hitting HBO Max.
I know they are making a lot more off of me at $10/mo or whatever the deal I got was than they would my movie theater ticket purchases.
That, and they don't have to share that $10/mo with the theater.
I know they don't see it that way though. Maybe I'm the exception and a lot of people who would have gone to the movies aren't. But I don't go, and these things I just wouldn't watch until they came around on HBO or Netflix anyway.
For me it makes my att plan more worth while.
