One of the first departments to feel the effects of Netflix’s poor performance was its animation division, which was reportedly gutted, and now, the streaming service is laying off employees at its Tudum website. The site launched in 2021 to engage fans with behind-the-scenes content and announcements for new shows and movies.

Staff from Tudum have been posting about how they’ve been laid off.
Uh oh! Looks like I have to do this tweet again. Is anyone hiring? Netflix just laid off my team (my job included). It was an incredible few months and I’m grateful for it but I’m stoked about whatever’s next. Email is in bio.

Others explained how Netflix threw money at journalists it courted for the site, only to see it fall like a house of cards months later.
Aggressively courting journalists (esp POC). Throwing money at us. Telling us this is gonna be different and stable. We’ll be set up for success. Then months later pulling the rug out from underneath us. I should’ve known better than to trust anything with “doom” in its name

“Our fan website Tudum is an important priority for the company,” said a spokesperson. They did not clarify how many were laid off but said the website is still a priority. At least 10 to 15 staff were reportedly let go.
