Blizzard has announced that Jessica Martinez has won the privilege of being its first Vice President, Head of Culture. A 14-year veteran of The Walt Disney Company, Martinez will help lead the company’s new initiative for creating “a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace culture where people at every level can learn, grow, and bring their most creative selves to their work.” Martinez’ hiring follows that of Kristen Hines, who joined Activision Blizzard last month as its new Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

“When you create a people-first environment where teams feel safe, valued, and work together toward a shared purpose, everyone thrives–the employees, the players, and the business,” said Martinez, who will be leading Blizzard’s learning and development team. “Making the values of our connections show up in what we do is how we bring humanity back to business.”

Jessica joins Blizzard after more than 14 years leading strategy, communications, operations and employee experience at the Walt Disney Company, where she served as Chief of Staff and key strategic advisor to both the Chief Security Officer and the Chief Technology & Digital Officer for Disney Parks & Resorts. Beyond spearheading fundamental organizational change including leading the security integration for the 21st Century Fox acquisition, Jessica was best known for creating a values-driven culture that connected global teams and celebrated diversity.

There's Blizzard... correcting for past transgressions... lets see if it is an over correction or not.

Well once the acquisition is complete this will be a redundant position and likely eliminated back out.

Well you know since it isn't a Chinese company trying to buy interest in an American company it might just get blocked.

Can someone tell me how is this not the job of HR? This is such an asinine empty virtue signal that it makes me want to punch somebody.
Also I see they are hiring from all the "right" places. Prepare for Blizzard marketing transgenderism to prepubescents soon.

You need to hire competent people, not diverse

You need diversity of thought, not diversity of superficial unalterable characteristics.
