Lucasfilm has shared a new official trailer for Andor, its prequel series to 2017’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

In addition to “revealing more story and character details than ever before,” the trailer can confirm that Andor will now premiere on Disney+ on September 21 with not one, but three episodes, with future episodes following every Wednesday. The show was originally scheduled to premiere on August 31, 2022, but fans will have to remain patient for a few more weeks before seeing Diego Luna’s character back in action.

A synopsis of Andor shared on the official Star Wars site has clarified that the show takes place half a decade before the events depicted in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which saw “a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction.”

Andor, created by Tony Gilroy, stars Diego Luna, reprising the role of rebel spy Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in a tale set five years prior to the events of the film. Joining Luna is Genevieve O’Reilly, who will return as Mon Mothma, as well as Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller.

Luna’s recent credits include voice work for DC League of Super-Pets, and Narcos: Mexico, in which he plays drug lord Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo.

Some of the other Star Wars series coming to Disney+ include Ahsoka, Lando, and Skeleton Crew. A third season of The Mandalorian is also slated to hit the service in February 2023.
