We all know the steam deck can't drive that resolution so why bother?

Would be decent for desktop use though, right?

Since this is using USB-C to connect to the deck, and I'd be surprised if the next one doesn't also include one, I could see this stand getting used for the next deck. It could also be interesting to see a 1440p or high-framerate 1080p hooked up.

Eurogamer/Digital Foundry has a guide here for 1080p-4K gaming with the Steam Deck.

Personally I've found, with hdmi stuff such as this hub, its best to buy over spec as much as possible. Im sure hdmi in theory is all exact and clean.

HDMI 2.0 is nice but honestly, 2.1 is the sweet spot. At full bandwidth 2.1 finally gets HDMI to Display Port levels but for something like this 2.0 is definitely about as much as the device could hope to use.

The Deck should be able to run older games @4K. HDMI 2.1 with VRR would be ideal.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
