Today is the official launch day for the GeForce RTX 4090 and there is already a rumor that NVIDIA is setting aside its best AD102 GPUs for its successor. Reviews for the GeForce RTX 4090 are showing that the newest flagship card is formidable, to say the least. Our own Brent Justice reviewed a Founders Edition and showed that NVIDIA has made major improvements over the previous Ampere generation so a 4090 Ti could be the icing on the cake for some. This latest rumor states a roughly ten to twenty percent performance uptick over the current card.

NVIDIA has commonly had a final top-tier card but its launch within the release cycle has varied over the past few generations and it would be unlikely to be unveiled so soon with other releases on the horizon. It has also changed up its branding nomenclature since the launch of the first Turing RTX cards so it’s also possible the successor might even be the return of the Titan which was absent during the Ampere releases where the x90 line made its comeback.
