Hey Alexa heard any good rumors from Google Assistant lately? Over the course of the last year or so there have been numerous stories about devices ‘listening’ without the user’s knowledge. I doubt they will be the last ones. The Inquirer has reported on Google changing it’s policy regarding Google Assistant. They have performed a policy review and in moving forward ‘will never allow human operators to listen to your conversations with Google Assistant.‘
This is of course is followed by a ‘opt in’ option similar to what we’ve seen Apple do after stories broke about Siri. It remains to be seen what other manufacturers will do with their privacy policies and device listening behavior. Evidently there’s still a couple of folks out there that value their privacy. Who’d thunk it?
