Performance Numbers
The goal of the Radeon RX 5500 Series is to allow 60+ FPS gaming at 1080p on the latest AAA games. Or, it can allow up to 90+ FPS gaming on easier Esports genre of games at 1080p. You can see that AMD quotes some performance differences to expect at 1080p. However, all the comparisons are against the Radeon RX 480 Ellesmere and not the Radeon RX 580 Polaris.
- Gears 5 AMD claims 79FPS on the Radeon RX 480 but with the Radeon RX 5500, it claims 92FPS, a 16% increase.
- Borderlands 3 AMD claims 69FPS on the Radeon RX 480 but 82FPS on the Radeon RX 5500, a 19% performance increase.
- GhostRecon Breakpoint AMD claims 49FPS on the Radeon RX 480 but 60FPS on the Radeon RX 5500, a 22% increase.
In all of those games shown above the GeForce GTX 1650 is thoroughly beat and for the Esports games shown above AMD shows clear advantages in performance across the board with Radeon RX 5500 over GeForce GTX 1650. Performances that reach and exceed 90FPS at 1080p.
Mobile Radeon RX 5500M
There will be notebooks with the new Radeon RX 5500M GPU. Some performance advantages are shown versus a GTX 1650 Mobile look quite impressive for mobile gaming performance.
Games
AMD will also be having a game bundle it calls “Raise The Game.” You get a choice of Borderlands 3 or GhostRecon Breakpoint with Radeon RX 5700 and 5500 series.
