The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray Next Year

One of the greatest fantasy film trilogies of all time is getting a UHD upgrade. According to German site 4K Filme, Warner Home Video plans to release The Lord of the Rings Trilogy on 4K Blu-ray in 2020.

The Hobbit Trilogy is getting a 4K release as well, and all discs will include the Extended Editions. Expect Dolby Atmos tracks for all films, as well as HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

Fans of the HDR universe have long been waiting for Warner to give the films an audiovisual upgrade. And as we know, the movie studio is always up for a high quality 4K remaster. Proofs include the ” Christopher Nolan Collection,” “Blade Runner Final Cut,” or the recently released ” Shining.”
