The Super Nintendo Theme park at Universal Studios might be getting an upgrade. AR or Augmented Reality. Theme Park Shop has reported on this interesting concept.

The Mario Kart ride could allow people to wear AR goggles to enjoy a next level experience. Considering Nintendo’s innovative approaches to technology this rumor seems highly possible. We reported early in the year about this park here.

Video Games Chronicle has noted a few details about the ride. Starting with familiar locations like Bowser’s castle the four passenger cars and will incorporate multiple technologies. From the virtual of screens and projectors to physical objects there will be varying effects of immersion. Completing tasks using AR would allow passengers to increase their scores.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
