Portable monitors aren’t well regarded or sought after in the gaming world, but ASUS wants to change that with its latest mobile display, the ROG Strix XG17AHPE. This is a 17.3-inch, USB Type-C 1080p IPS panel with a blazing-fast 240 Hz refresh rate, which (according to ASUS) makes it the “world’s fastest portable gaming monitor.”

That speedy specification is paired with an equally impressive 3 ms response time, as well as adaptive sync support and low framerate compensation technology for tear-free gaming on the go. As for image quality, users can expect a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 100-percent sRGB coverage, and a wide, 178-degree viewing angle out of its IPS panel.

The ROG Strix XG17AHPE also contains a high-capacity 7800 mAh battery, so there’s no individual power supply to worry about. ASUS claims that’s “enough juice for up to 3.5 hours solid use at up to 240 Hz.” Thanks to Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Power Delivery 3.0, the battery can be charged for 120 minutes of playtime in just one hour.

Last but not least is the inclusion of an ESS 9118 DAC for high-quality speaker and headphone output. This chip is capable of 24-bit/192 kHz lossless playback.

ASUS hasn’t released any pricing information for the ROG Strix XG17AHPE yet, but now that the monitor has been listed on its official website, availability could be right around the corner.
