“When was the last time Blizzard released a good game?”

The official Warcraft III: Reforged forum is currently ripe with such negativity, as hordes of angry players have flocked to the message boards to call Blizzard out for its shoddy remake attempt. Reforged allegedly does little to improve the original classic, which was released in 2003.

According to one poster, the so-called “reimagining” suffers from all kinds of lazy problems, such as unit movement being locked to an embarrassing 20 FPS. Barely any improvements have been made to the user interface and cutscenes (despite earlier promises), and the translation/localization is reportedly terrible, too.

Worst yet, Blizzard decided to get rid of the old, classic Warcraft III client. This shouldn’t be an issue, but the Reforged client strips away a ton of features, such as clans, profiles, custom campaigns, and cross-region play. Even the ladder games (i.e., ranked matchmaking, stats) are gone.

Topping it all off is the new acceptable use policy regarding custom games. These are now the “sole and exclusive property of Blizzard,” which means that the developer now owns (and can profit off of) fan-made creations. Copyrighted material has also been banned.

All of this has convinced early adopters to get a refund, which isn’t exactly straightforward. There doesn’t seem to be a guarantee that they’ll all be honored.
