Conclusion

In today’s review, we focused on overclocking the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition video card. The goal was to find out how well this video card overclocks, how high we can get it, what differences in performance we can observe and the impact of the overclock on power and temperature. This article serves as a baseline for AIB RTX 2080 Ti cards that we may review in the future as well as future generations of high-end RTX cards.

Our final overclock results impressive quite impressive compared to the reference RTX 2080 Ti specifications. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition does a great job at harnessing the GPU for a respectable stock overclock while leaving room for enthusiasts to pull more performance out. We were able to increase the observed boost clock of the card by 8% and the memory clock by 14.3%. This lead to a performance increase across our selection of games between 6 and 17% at 4k resolution with settings maximized in all games except for one. This shows that each game is going to perform differently, and your overclocking results greatly depend on the game and game engine.

Final Points

We’re looking forward to seeing the results of this exercise for all of the GPUs that are currently on the market so we’re able to give you the expected overclock for each GPU so you’ll know what to expect when overclocking your own. In this case, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition continues to be the first true 4k resolution gaming card and overclocking it gives you an extra advantage in each game. While this provides additional value for the $1199 MSRP card, we’re starting to see prices on rather capable AIB cards fall to closer to the $1000 mark which indicates the end may be nigh for the GPU at the top of the product stack. Stay tuned while we overclock our way down the pricing ladder!
