Capcom has announced that it will be releasing a demo for Resident Evil 3 ahead of the game’s official April 3, 2020 street date.

Fans have been skeptical as to whether it’ll live up to last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake because it was developed by a different, brand-new team called M-Two, but the demo should (hopefully) quash those fears. Capcom says that it’ll have more details on the free trial soon.

Game journalists were recently invited to play a portion of the game, and you can check out some of that footage below. As expected, Resident Evil 3 looks a lot like Resident Evil 2 in the graphics department, but the gameplay appears to be a bit more action oriented.

There’s a new emergency dodging system, which will let players get out of a jam by rolling away from enemies. The original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis actually featured something similar, but the maneuver seems to cover more distance in the remake.

RE3’s primary antagonist and resident stalker, Nemesis, also seems scarier and much more intimidating than Mr. X. He has the ability to use special weapons, such as a flamethrower and rocket launcher.

The standard Nemesis design looks horrific enough, so it’ll be interesting to see what his final form will look like. Resident Evil 3 will be available on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One in April.
