AMD Mid-Range Gaming Build: Motherboard

While all of the components we are selecting here today are what we would go with, and priced from vendors we trust, it is always a good idea to shop around as deals on these, or other good options, pop up from other reliable vendors all the time. With that said, let’s dive right into the next order of business.

Now that we have one half of our foundation for our build we need what is, essentially, its mate; a motherboard. For both our Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 5 3600X we switch things up a bit from the last guide and go with GIGABYTE. Indeed, the specific GIGABYTE board we are looking at today is the GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X making a great choice. The X570 chipset that the X570 Gaming X features brings us one of the most updated feature sets in AMD’s stack. However, it does so at a price point that is just a few dollars more than the older (but still capable) X470 chipset. That means users will get everything they are looking for in an AMD based Mid-Range Gaming Build in this product segment and then some.

As our own Dan Dobrowolski said in his review of the board “Back when X570 came out, I knew why it had increased in price by so much compared to X470 offerings. To say that sub-$200 X570 motherboards seemed scary is a bit of an understatement. The GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X proved me wrong. While it’s not very fancy and there aren’t any frills to speak of, the motherboard’s got it where it counts. It’s solidly made, robust and very capable. It is currently $159.99 at Amazon. The GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X does a good job of bridging the gap between X570 and X470. I think it represents a solid option for anyone not wanting to crack the $200 price point on a motherboard regardless of the Ryzen 3000 series CPU you choose to pair with it. If you’re in the market for a socket AM4 motherboard, the GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X is a good option for people looking for a basic option that won’t break the bank.” While X570 products come in at a variety of price points, they are almost universally more expensive than the $169.99 that the X570 Gaming X comes in today. You can’t find a much better match for a Ryzen 7/5 chip than this if you are looking for a return on your investment while maintaining the options like those found in the X570 chipset in general, and this board in particular.
