DLSS 2.0

MW5 Mercs is part of a group of games that have recently upgraded their ray tracing features. These upgrades are happening as NVIDIA’s DLSS 2.0 is getting implemented into more games. There are a number of enhancements that come with DLSS 2.0. Using temporal feedback techniques to sharpen the image it offers quality comparable to the native resolution. It is also twice as fast now to improve frame rates. Additionally, restrictions on which resolutions it can be used are now removed. The original version often limited games to only a few specific resolutions to render from or to.

“Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing gaming – from in-game physics and animation simulation to real-time rendering and AI-assisted broadcasting features. With Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), NVIDIA set out to redefine real-time rendering through AI-based super resolution – rendering fewer pixels and then using AI to construct sharp, higher resolution images. With our latest 2.0 version of DLSS, we’ve made big advances towards this vision.”

Other games that adopted this improved feature are:

  • Control
  • Deliver Us The Moon
  • Wolfenstein: Youngblood

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
