Are you desperate enough to pay $900 to fit your entire game library on a speedy, large-capacity SSD? Well, Samsung’s latest QVO SSD series should be right up your alley. According to an Amazon listing spotted by Tom’s Hardware, the Korean giant is prepping an 8 TB SKU for that very price.

Prospective buyers should be aware that this is a QLC-based drive, however. What that means is slower write speeds and wear resistance – but neither of these issues should be a concern if the device is used primarily for storage, and not as an OS drive, which would imply constant writes.

No specifications were given on the Amazon listing, but for comparison, Samsung’s 4 TB 860 QVO features a sequential read of up to 550 MB/s and sequential write of up to 520 MB/s.

Samsung’s 8 TB QVO SSD follows in the footsteps of Micron’s 7.68 TB 5210 Ion SSD, which also comes with a similar price tag. The wait for SSD prices to match HDDs continues to be a long and agonizing one…
