Something that may have slid by many with last week’s Xbox Games Showcase is another forthcoming game called The Medium. This psychological horror game will launch on next-gen consoles along with PC. It will also feature ray-tracing effects, which, given the game’s atmosphere, could be very effective. Ray tracing will be implemented using Microsoft’s DXR via DirectX 12 API.
Discover a dark mystery only a medium can solve. Explore the real world and the spirit world at the same time.
Use your psychic abilities to solve puzzles spanning both worlds, uncover deeply disturbing secrets, and survive encounters with The Maw – a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy.
The Medium is a third-person psychological horror game that features patented dual-reality gameplay and an original soundtrack co-composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka.

Recommended Requirements

Judging by the recommended requirements, this could be a very hardware-demanding game on the PC. It may only need 30 GB for the install, but both CPU and GPU needs increase substantially for those looking to crank it up a notch. Even at 1080p, a GPU with a minimum of 4 GB VRAM is recommended. The game’s developer, Blooper Team, has already said that it will be locked to 4K/30 FPS on the Xbox Series X. However, as we can see, for 4K on the PC, with ray tracing enabled, users will need at least an RTX 2080 for the best experience. No official release date has been set, but it is currently on sale on Steam until November 3rd, thus hinting that it could happen shortly after.
