With only a few weeks to go until the next launch date, Crytek must be feeling renewed confidence. The last launch did not go as planned or hoped by fans, which led Crytek to go back to the drawing board in improving the upcoming remaster. At that time, it looked to be a direct port of the Nintendo Switch version. Having stated it has now added 8K textures, new assets, ray-traced reflections, and new lighting, it sounds like Crysis is getting the attention it should. Well, the following popped up on the Crysis Twitter page last week.

This could be the equivalent of Crytek putting its money where its mouth is. On one hand, if this next launch goes as badly as the last, then it would be an invitation for unfavorable exposure. One thing that is certain is that the gaming community is not afraid to voice its opinions when it doesn’t like something. On the other, if the game looks as beautiful as fans are wanting, then it will serve as a means to show it off. With next-gen PC GPUs on the horizon, an amazing-looking PC remaster being released now would be well poised for content streaming. Such a combination would be a win-win scenario for both. In either case, the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of Crysis Remastered are expected to launch on September 18, 2020. Presently, it seems that the PC version will be an Epic Games Store exclusive.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
