Horizon Zero Dawn’s Latest PC Patch Allows Aloy to Walk Straight

Guerrilla Games has released a new patch (1.07) for its PC port of Horizon Zero Dawn, which launched in August with a variety of nasty issues. While the digital surgery is ongoing, the developer did manage to fix a particularly embarrassing issue pertaining to player movement – Aloy, the protagonist, could not walk in a straight line.

“Aloy walks to the left when you walk forward, have her run in a straight line on a path without moving mouse and you will end up during circles over a really really wide area,” one user on r/Horizon explained. “Some players are saying this is extremely disorientating, I just find it annoying.”

“Don’t forget about drunk Aloy,” joked another. “Can’t ever seem to walk straight.”

The patch also addresses a few visual anomalies (e.g., flashing graphics), as well as two crashes related to streaming compute shaders and file paths. Additionally, Adaptive FPS has been fixed so its performance lines up with manual settings.

Unfortunately for Guerrilla, a huge list of issues remain. The threads linked in the patch notes below include some serious bugs, like improper resolution scaling, memory leaks, and VSync resulting in hitching.
