Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been making headlines recently, and not for the best of reasons. It was announced the game would require 250 GB of HD space for those wanting the 4K RTX experience. Buying a new SSD just to install a game may not be a far-fetched idea after all. But fret not, as DSOG is reporting these specs may have changed, bringing the game’s install size to more palatable levels.

  • Single-player mode: 35 GB
  • Multiplayer mode: 47 GB
  • Ultra settings with 4K and RTX: 125 GB

Did Treyarch perform some compression magic on the texture packs or a re-pack? No one knows for sure, but these new size requirements are much better. The Ultra preset now requires only half the storage (it is believed to still include the HD texture pack). The official pre-order page shows the multiplayer mode listed as 50 GB, and the total recommended size as 175 GB. We’ll all find out soon enough when it’s released on November 13.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
