Aspyr has announced that Obsidian Entertainment’s critically acclaimed Star Wars RPG sequel, Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, is coming to Google Play and Apple’s App Store on December 18. For just $14.99, Star Wars fans will be able to relive some of the classic title’s most memorable moments on iPhones, Android tablets, and similar mobile devices.

“Five years after the events from the award winning Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, the Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi to the edge of extinction and are on the verge of crushing the Old Republic,” a description on the Google Play and Apple App Store reads.

“With the Jedi Order in ruin, the Republic’s only hope is a lone Jedi struggling to reconnect with the Force. As this Jedi, you will be faced with the galaxy’s most dire decision: Follow the light side or succumb to the dark…”

It’s been over 16 years since Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II was first released for the original Xbox, but the game is still fondly remembered for its amusing side quests (e.g., Korriban’s Secret Tomb, which comprises various trials leading to Darth Revan) and characters such as Atton Rand, Visas Marr, and Kreia/Darth Traya.

If EA had any sense, we’d already have legitimate remasters for both Knights of the Old Republic games already. An honest sequel (i.e., not Star Wars: The Old Republic) would be welcome as well, but it’s hard to say how that’d turn out with the current state of BioWare.
