Studio Wildcard has announced that ARK II is in the works, and surprisingly, Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel has a major role in the game. A new trailer that premiered at The Game Awards 2020 shows the actor leading a tribe and its children across dangerous territory.

The original ARK: Survival Evolved was released as an early access title in 2015 before officially launching for consoles and PC in 2017. It has garnered mostly positive reviews, with over 300,000 on Steam alone. The developer appears keen to maintain momentum with fans by upgrading the game’s visuals for next-gen technology. Here’s some screenshots from the trailer, which was rendered in-engine using game assets.

Studio Wildcard hasn’t shared a release date or confirmed what platforms ARK II will be available on, but PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S consoles seem like safe bets. It will likely move to a newer version of Unreal Engine as well, as the first used a modified version of Unreal Engine 4.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
