If you’ve never played the original Abe’s Odyssey, get yourself to the Epic Games Store right now, as the storefront is offering free copies of Oddworld Inhabitants’ critically acclaimed remake as part of its ongoing holiday promotion.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is essentially a reboot of the 1997 classic with not only enhanced visuals and audio, but substantial gameplay changes such as an increased number of Mudokon slaves to save, new difficulty settings, and refined puzzles.

“Explore ancient ruins, dodge carnivorous beasts and avoid trigger-happy guards as Abe, the original Oddworld hero in this lovingly recrafted, built from the ground-up and totally recooked take on the classic adventure Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee,” a description reads.

Oddworld Inhabitants is hard at work on a sequel to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty called Oddworld: Soulstorm. According to game designer Matt Glanville, the entry is meant to be “a complete story retake” of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, which was hastily released in 1998 following the success of Abe’s Oddysey. Soulstorm is being regarded as a true sequel.
