As part of its ongoing holiday games promotion, the Epic Games Store is giving away free copies of Haemimont Games’ strategy title, Tropico 5. This is a simulation game in which players take on the role of a dictator named “El Presidente” to determine the fate of the titular island nation via exploration, research, resource building, trade advancement, and more. Tropico 5 happens to be the first game in the long-running series to feature cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, allowing up to four players to build cities and economies together.

“Return to the remote island nation of Tropico in the next installment of the critically acclaimed and hugely popular ‘dictator sim’ series,” a description reads. “Expand your Dynasty’s reign from the early colonial period to beyond the 21st Century, facing an all-new set of challenges, including advanced trading mechanics, technology and scientific research, exploration and for the first time in Tropico history – cooperative and competitive MULTIPLAYER for up to 4 players.”

Tropico 5 is also accompanied by various DLC packs, such as Big Cheese, Inquisition, and Supervillain. The latter invites players to fully embrace El Presidente’s dictator role with the building of a magnificent lair that houses a giant laser to take out rebels.
