An r/AMD user has posted a notice from electronics retailer Scan UK revealing that it won’t be receiving any AMD CPUs over the next two weeks. From supply shortages to COVID-related delays, shipments are being decreased, adding to the already congested amount of phone calls it’s been receiving. The retailer has asked people not to call them asking for details, since it does not have more information to provide.

Clearly, ongoing shortages will extend well into 2021 and continue affecting various manufacturers. NVIDIA has had similar problems in providing GPUs, including those planned for future release. Many are frustrated in trying to source items for new builds or upgrades. Here’s hoping things get better as the new year progresses.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
