Silent assassins who have already mastered Hitman 3’s arguably diminutive list of missions should be glad to hear that more content is on the way. In a statement to The Gamer, IO Interactive executive producer Forest Swartout Large confirmed that the studio was “already looking to the future” in regard to the future of the franchise and provided hints as to what players might be able to expect from the third installment’s first batch of DLC.

It doesn’t sound as if additional levels are coming any time soon, however, which is bad news for fans who were hoping to venture beyond the base game’s Dubai, Dartmoor, Berlin, Chongquing, Mendoza, and Carpathian Mountains locations.

“We are definitely going to be doing some DLC, but we haven’t defined what that is,” Large said in a statement to The Gamer. “I think for now we are not looking at new maps like the bank [Hitman 2’s “Golden Handshake”] and the island [Hitman 2’s “The Last Resort”].”

“We’re more looking at using existing locations and reimagining them, twisting them. And this time around, we can use the whole trilogy. We can look back at Hitman 2016 maps, Hitman 2 maps – we have all the locations.”

The implication is that Hitman 3’s first DLC will likely comprise smaller-scale missions on pre-existing maps, such as the ones provided in the previous installment’s Special Assignments packs. IO Interactive is also expected to introduce additional Escalation Contracts, which challenge players to eliminate targets under new, unique conditions.
