Blizzard has officially announced World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic, a faithful recreation of the popular MMORPG’s very first expansion from 2007 that dealt with the demonic Burning Legion and its threat to Azeroth. According to a deep dive published during today’s BlizzConline event, Burning Crusade veterans can expect to revisit all of the original expansion’s iconic features, such as the Dark Portal and Outland, blood elves and draenei as playable races, the ability to craft jewels to enhance gear, and travel via flying mounts.

“You’ve taken Azeroth by storm,” a description reads. “Now a dark frontier awaits you beyond the Dark Portal. Return to a lost era of Azeroth and enjoy the timeless stories that defined this world at war.”

Burning Crusade Classic is a faithful recreation of the original release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Enter the Twisting Nether and explore Outland—the shattered remains of the once beautiful orc homeworld, Draenor. Battle to level 70, ride majestic flying mounts, and master two additional races: the mystical blood elves and the pious draenei.”

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade fans can check out Blizzard’s deep dive to get an idea of some of the changes that were made to the Classic version of the game. These include the removal of “spell batching,” which was introduced in WoW Classic but resulted in latency, and more difficult bosses to challenge the modern raiding community. PvP and factions have also received some balancing tweaks.
