Original Press Release

EK®, the leading computer cooling solutions provider, is excited to announce the EK 10K Challenge in cooperation with builds.gg, a well-known community for PC builders and modders. If you are already familiar with builds.gg, then you are probably into building and modding, but if this is the first time you hear about them, this is the perfect opportunity to get to know the builds.gg platform. Since EK is running possibly the most successful sponsorship program for PC enthusiasts, it was only a matter of time when EK would team up with builds.gg to bring even more to the community.

“We really appreciate this opportunity to work with builds.gg, the most successful platform for custom-built PCs. At this upcoming event, people will get the chance to see liquid cooling in action and we get to present our understanding of the future to the modding community. It is only natural that the most extreme PCs are also liquid-cooled, and with EK being the pioneer in PC liquid cooling, it was a logical step for us to fully support the builds.gg 10K Challenge,” said Edvard König, founder of EK.

The EK 10K Challenge is looking for the best PC builds on the Internet and the builds.gg community will vote for their favorite builds. There will be 10,000 USD of prize money for the top three builds participating in the contest.

There are also prizes waiting for voters. EK will add two EK-Quantum Power Kits to the prize pool, while many other sponsored prizes are brought by Noblechairs, Endgame Gear, Performance PCs, Crucial, Thermal Grizzly, and CableMod. To see the complete list of hardware prizes, head over to the official EK 10K Challenge page.

There are three ways you can win. The contest is based on the number of votes each build receives. The three builds with the most votes at the end of the contest will share 10,000 USD in prize money. The prize distribution is as follows:

-First Place: $5,000

-Second Place: $3,000

-Third Place: $2,000

Each account is limited to entering one build into this contest, and you can enter the contest at any time. However, voting begins on March 15, 2021, at 4:00 PM UTC, and entering the contest by this date will mean that your build has more time to receive votes from the builds.gg community. The voting window closes on March 29, 2021. Good luck!

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
