Specifications and pricing for ASUS’ heavily anticipated ROG Strix XG43UQ 43-Inch 4K HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor have been revealed courtesy of early listings published at web shops Overclockers UK and CZC. According to the former, ASUS’ ROG Strix XG43UQ will cost nearly as much as an OLED TV based on its £1,348.99 price tag, which translates to around $1,870. The display does boast a number of great features for users who are fans of VA panels, however, such as DisplayHDR 1000 certification and Display Stream Compression to allow for higher resolutions and refresh rates via DisplayPort 1.4 without a perceivable impact to image quality.

“Spec wise the screen has a 43.4″ sized VA technology panel, 3840 x 2160 resolution, 1ms MPRT spec, 4000 contrast ratio, 1000 cd/m2 peak brightness (HDR), 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit color depth and a wide color gamut covering 90% DCI-P3 and 125% sRGB,” TFT Central explained in its coverage.

“Display Stream Compression (DSC) is used from the DisplayPort 1.4 connection to allow full 4K @ 144Hz without needing to drop color depth or chroma levels. The now added 2x HDMI 2.1 ports will also have sufficient bandwidth to do the same, while also making the screen great for connecting latest generation games consoles at 4K @ 120Hz.”

ASUS’ ROG Strix XG43UQ also features local dimming for better black levels, as well as support for AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro tier for a tear-free, low-latency experience when playing HDR games, movies, and other content. It isn’t clear when the ROG Strix XG43UQ will be available in the States, but CZC’s listing indicates that the initial roll out should begin next month.
