Stock Clock Testing

For our stock clock testing, we have configured our CPU to run at factory settings for speed, voltage. This yields an approximate power at the wall of 185w under load (a 127w differential from idle, which pulls about 58w). This results in the CPU running at 3.7GHz on all cores during the looping rounds of Cinebench R20.

Max Fan

We started our testing today by turning the fans up all the way to 11. This brought the Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X5 to 58.63 degrees Celsius while the recent IceSLEET X6 came in at 56.75 degrees Celsius and the recent IceSLEET X7 Dual came in at 55.75 degrees Celsius. Besting these IceSLEET’s is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO which hits 55.5 degrees Celsius. We noted that the max fan speed on the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO topped out at 2050 RPM, the Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X5 and X6 topped out at 1900 RPM, the Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X7 Dual topped out at 1600 RPM, and the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 has the lowest max fan rpm at 1500 RPM.

1500 RPM Fan

Dropping the fans slightly to 1,500 RPM didn’t do much to bring separation between most of our coolers except for the IceSLEET X6 and X5. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO came in at 56.88 degrees Celsius while the Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X7 Dual barely edged it out at 56.5 degrees Celsius. Following this is the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 at 57 degrees Celsius. The Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X5 brings up the rear, just past the X6, at 61.5 degrees Celsius.

1000 RPM Fan

Lowering the fans RPM further to 1,000 RPM sees the IceSLEET X6 and IceSLEET X7 Dual at 60.88 degrees Celsius. This is interesting as the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO hit 60.75 degrees Celsius while the be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 barely edged everyone out at 60 degrees Celsius. In way back is the IceSLEET X5 at 67.75 degrees Celsius.

Finally, down at 600 RPM, the Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X7 Dual and be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 are just running away from the pack at 66.63 degrees Celsius and 65.5 degrees Celsius respectively. Then, in what is the strangest change of affairs it is not the IceSLEET X5 in last (though it is not doing so well at 75.25 degrees Celsius) but the Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X6 at 78.5 degrees Celsius.

Let’s move on now to look at some overclocking results with our coolers.
